The restaurant
Opened in March 2023 on Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo, near Marquês de Pombal, Busan Table BBQ is a Korean barbecue restaurant. The name is a tribute to the owner's grandmother, Siran Yu, who lived in Busan, South Korea; the project is hers and her partner's, Xiaodi Zhang.
Each of the 15 tables — seating 60 to 70 people — has its own grill and smoke extractor, and it is the customer who grills the meat, with help from the team for first-timers. The menu includes cuts of beef such as wagyu and black angus, Iberian pork, lamb and seafood, and tradition has you wrap the meat in a lettuce leaf with one of the house sauces. The kimchi is made daily.
The dining room has a futuristic look, with extraction tubes hanging from the ceiling, aluminium and stainless steel tables and neon illustrations of Lisbon and Busan, next to a poem by Camões chosen by the owner. Time Out gave it five stars.
